Introduction to Adoptive Families

HomeStudy Services

For most of you, this has been a long journey. Infertility is an emotionally and physically draining ordeal. The outcome is often devastating.

Now, you are turning to adoption and wondering what lies ahead. I have some good news! In our experience, those adoptive parents who embark on this process (and don't give up) will be successful. The paperwork may seem never ending and there will be many "ups" and "downs," but in the end, you will achieve your dream of a child or children to love and cherish.

Our staff will be there to help you through each step of your adoption. We have years and years of experience. Many of us are adoptive parents and can share with you our first-hand knowledge and heart-felt support.

About AAA Partners in Adoption

AAA Partners in Adoption (PIA) has been a licensed, non-profit, child-placing adoption agency since July 1, 1994. Our main home office is located in Alpharetta, Georgia - (770) 844-2080. We also have a central Georgia office in Macon Area 1-800-516-1080, a Tidewater office in Savannah 1-800-516-1080, and a North Georgia office in Rome 1-800-516-1080. In addition, we have social workers in all other areas of the metro district and throughout the state of Georgia. PIA welcomes all prospective adoptive parents regardless of race, creed, national origin or sexual orientation.

What we can offer our families

In order to adopt either domestically or internationally, all families will need a home study. A home study looks like a 'term paper' on you. You will need to collect and provide to PIA references, birth and marriage certificates, etc. You will have several meetings with a social worker.

The home study is not a test and should not be viewed with fear. If you are an intact individual, if married you have a loving relationship and if you can financially support a child, you should do well. Even a criminal record or significant health issue, in most cases, will not affect the eventual outcome of the home study. Just be open and honest so that we can assist you appropriately.

By the time you have completed the home study, you should have chosen a domestic or international adoption plan. PIA has the following Adoption Programs to offers its families:

Infant Caucasian or African American Domestic Adoption Program,
Infant and toddler International Programs,
Dare to Love (Free adoption program placing older children, minority race children, and sibling groups).

Please review the enclosed brochures about our various programs. If you would like to learn more, please call PIA directly at 770-844-2080 or visit our web site at  http://www.aaapia.org/

Services after your Adoption

Once a child has been placed in your home, the state of Georgia or the foreign government in the country from which you adopt requires certain follow-up visits to see how you and your child are progressing. These visits are not meant to be intrusive, but helpful for several reasons. For instance, the foreign government receiving a follow-up report and pictures will be assured that your child is faring well. They will want to continue placing children for adoption with our U.S. families. Secondly, our staff is there to be a resource. Perhaps you are having difficulty handling questions about the adoption, your child's history, etc. We can help you with those answers.

In closing, we are very enthused that you have contacted AAA Partners in Adoption, and we are committed to your success in whatever adoption plans you choose. Good luck!

Sincerely,
Melissa Clause, Executive Director
