Our agency believes
every child deserves love, stability, and a permanent family.
With this goal in mind, we have established a new program,
DARE TO LOVE, that matches special needs children with families
who will cherish them and provide them with a bright new
future.
What kinds of children are available?
Children who are older, of minority races, sibling groups,
children with physical, emotional, or mental challenges.
Their parents' rights have been permanently terminated because
of abuse or neglect.
Who can Adopt?
Anyone who can love a special needs child (or children)
and meet that child (or children's) needs. We evaluate prospective
parents on an individual basis and do not have a rigid set
of criteria and qualifications.
What are the costs?
Adoption expenses, such as the home study, post placement
supervision, travel expenses, and legal fees, are paid by
the child's home state. In addition, the children usually
recieve a monthly subsidy and Medicaid until they are 18
years old.
How long is the wait for a child?
Adoptive parents are usually united with a child or children
in 6-12 months. The length of the wait depends largely on
what special needs the adoptive family is willing to accept.
