Domestic African American Adoption Program:

For nearly 20 years, The Domestic African American Adoption Program has been serving the needs of children and families in and around Georgia. The decision to adopt a child is one of the most important decisions of your life. We want to help you realize the fulfillment of all your dreams -- a child to love and cherish forever.

Meeting All The Needs
Everyone involved in the adoption process has a unique set of concerns, a special set of questions, and an individual need for support and guidance. The Domestic African American Adoption Program provides the birthmother, adoptive parents, the child and adult adoptee with the assistance they need.

The Birth Mother
By providing free counseling and support, we can help a birth mother make a responsible, loving plan for her unborn child. Options are discussed and carefully considered before a birth mother makes a life plan decision for herself and her child. Assistance with pregnancy related expenses is also available.

The Adoptive Parents
Adoption is a life-long commitment and we can aid adoptive parents in preparation for their new family. Home studies, home-study updates, court reports, as well as counseling and adoption preparation groups for adoptive parents are available. We can facilitate identified adoptions for those who have made contact with a birth mother.

The Infant
In most cases, the infant is placed directly with the adoptive parents after discharge from the hospital so that they can immediately begin the bonding process. However, private individual family caring homes are available for infants who cannot be immediately placed in their adoptive home. Food, clothing, medical care and lots of love are provided until a placement has been completed.

The Adult Adoptee
Adoptees 21 years of age or older are allowed by Georgia law to search for their birth parents. We can assist adult adoptees in satisfying their need to know their history through counseling and search services.
